Michago Spring 2025 Shareholder Letter

 

Dear Michagoans,  

 

Membership Dues

In this mailing you will find your 2024-2025 Shareholder Dues Statement along with a proxy form for those unable to attend the annual meeting. Please remember to include your payment coupon with your payment. As a reminder the dues are $300 for improved lots and $150 for unimproved lots. The seasonal garbage fee is $150 and for those on the community well the fee is $175. This year we also have a special assessment of an additional $300 for improved lots and $150 for unimproved lots for Toboggan repairs as approved last year.

 

MBE Association Beach and Common Area

The fire rings and life ring with rope will be out prior to Memorial Day weekend. Please remember to leave the fire rings where we placed them. This allows us to consolidate the ash, etc. for when cleanup time comes in September and keeps most of the beach clean.

A reminder that the kayak/paddleboard racks are available below the stairs. MBE is not responsible for items stored there. The items stored there are private property and not for general use.

Please respect the boundaries of the Association beach common area and any items stored in this area.

 

MBE Roads

The repairs to Toboggan that were approved at the annual meeting last year will take place this fall. Initial

spring grading has been completed. We plan to add slag on an as needed basis.

 

MBE Tree cutting, Landscaping and Beautification

Landscaping and flower planting around the entrance sign and bulletin board will be completed soon.

We have cleaned the trench drains and drain basins. Ditching along North and South Surfside is ongoing. Tree

cutting has been completed on South Surfside drive. Additional tree cutting will be completed as budget allows

on Michago Association property. A water line has been installed at the front sign area for plant watering

purposes. A solar light is being installed to help illuminate the sign and mailbox area for safety purposes.

 

MBE Community Water System 

The community water system was turned on around April 15th. The lower north well house had a new roof installed and has been tapped for emergency use, with a Fire Department type connection which works like a low-grade fire hydrant, as per Grant Twp’s request. A similar tap was installed on the upper south well, 2 years ago. These emergency taps cost less than $1,000 to install.  A fully qualified fire hydrant installation would have cost more than $25,000.

 

MBE Trash Service 

The seasonal trash pickup resumed on Monday April 21st. 

 

MBE Community Bulletin Board 

Cottages for rent or sale can be listed on Michago.blogspot.com or posted on the community bulletin board.

 

The Electric Forest Festival is scheduled for June 19-22, 2025.

 

The annual MBE Shareholder meeting is scheduled for Saturday July 5th at 11 a.m. It will be held at the MBE well house and maintenance building. If you have topics you would like the board to consider please send them to [email protected] or any board member prior to May 23rd.
